Where do I begin? Monday night at Comerica Park was the worst night of my life as a Jays fan. For months, I have watched them blow leads in games - but in person, it was about 1000 times worse.
The Jays held a 4-1 lead going into the 9th inning, and it seemed like they had it locked up. Even with a runner at first, Johnny Mac managed to turn another highlight-reel double play to stop the threat. But the bleeding didn’t stop there; the Jays let in 4 runs on two outs to blow the game in the bottom of the 9th to the surging Tigers.
To watch in horror, as my Blue Jays lost was like watching Old Yeller all over again. And there was nothing I could do to stop it, but watch as the hometown Tigers won the game. I managed to pull out any remaining hair I have, so I currently look like the village idiot, Homer Simpson.
Am I over exaggerating at the importance of this game? Probably. But the fact that the Blue Jays have lost the last 3 games in a row, holding leads in the 8th and 9th is BEYOND frustrating. The last two games, the bullpen has blown quality starts for the pitcher; Burnett and Halladay.
So what the hell do the Jays have to do to win? No effing clue here. I’m probably not going to bother to watch the Jays/Yankees game tonight, because I’m still hurting from last night’s loss.
What a horrible, horrible ending to an otherwise exciting game. I might go back to Comerica, but it’s going to take a long time for me to forget the events of September 10th, 2007.
