Take Me Out to the Ballgame

I am very excited to announce that on Saturday I will be attending my first Jays game of the 2008 season. In no way is it a marquee match up - the Blue Jays are playing the Royals, and it’s Jesse Litsch (5-1) pitching against Luke Hochevar (3-3). I envision that there will probably be a lot of runs scored in this game, considering that both pitchers ERA’s are above 4.00.

There’s something about the first ballgame of the season that’s very exciting. Aside from a few new players, there’s really not that much new to the Blue Jays in 2008. And as far as the Rogers Centre goes, it’ll be as cold and dull as ever. Though I am looking forward to blowing my money on some new retro Jays merchandise. And for some reason, I always find it necessary to come home with some over-priced Jays paraphernalia.

Another great part of going to the ballgame is the food. Last year, I discovered that the food stands have these kickass fries that make the $7.50 hotdog combo totally worth it. Though I’m not looking forward to paying $11.50 for a beer. Now I see why people sneak liquor into the games - you’d have to take out a bank loan, just to afford enough beer to get hammered at the Rogers Centre.

So long as the Blue Jays don’t ground into 4 double plays, I think it will be a great game. That and I’ll remember why I hate traffic in Toronto so much.
