Manny = Success

Although Manny Ramirez and the Los Angeles Dodgers were left standing in the dust as the Philadelphia Phillies celebrated their World Series berth, Manny can rest assured that he makes teams better.

I saw an interesting piece during the game tonight showing how success seems to follow Manny wherever he goes. In his years with the Cleveland Indians (1993-2000), they scored 5 consecutive division titles. In his years with the Boston Red Sox (2001-2008), Manny helped the Red Sox to 2 World Series titles. Now in his short tenure so far in Los Angeles, Manny has guided the Dodgers to the NLCS.

So the formula seems very simple: Manny = Success.

Paul Beeston, make sure you get on J.P.'s ass and tell him to get Scott Boras on the phone and start making this thing happen. We need to bring Manny Ramirez to Toronto for the 2009 season.

  1. I'm trying not to get my hopes up when it comes to Manny becoming a Blue Jay. I don't want to be disappointed. But, man, would it ever be sweet.

    Do we go after pitching, or a big bat? If we can get Manny, I say abort the pitching.

    I'm so confused. A part of me doesn't know if Casey Janssen can just be thrown into the rotation.

    I don't know. My brain hurts just thinking about it.

    Thanks for the link, Ian!

  2. I remember up until Marcum got hurt, it looked like the Jays were going full out for a DH. But after news of Marcum and if A.J. leaves, the offseason priorities shift to finding some starting pitching.

    There's no way that Janssen should go into the rotation - being thrown into the fire after season on the DL is a bad, bad idea.

    Although, if Manny does come to Toronto I think that would sell a helluva lot more tickets!
