Presenting Team Canada - Revision 1

By
It only took less than 48 hours for two of Team Canada's starting pitchers to withdrawl their names from the roster. Both Rich Harden and Jeff Francis will not be represeting the true north strong and free at the World Baseball Classic. Both pitchers have recently suffered from shoulder problems, and Harden's new $7 million dollar contract with the Cubs probably had something to do with the decision.

As Parkes at Drunk Jays Fans suggests, it looks like Scott Richmond just might be the ace for Team Canada. Maybe this will be Scotty's chance for redemption after he turned down the chance to play for Team Canada at the 2008 Olympics in lieu of starting for the Blue Jays.

So is there a possibility that Richmond could now earn the new title "The Canadian Roy Halladay"?

  1. It's not often that I give a hoot about an individual player, but I'd LOVE to see Richmond shine. I'll be chewing my nails off if/when he's on the mound.

  2. I can't wait either! He'll do his country proud for sure.

  3. Ian you think Richmond has a spot in our rotation this season?

  4. He's my odds on favourite to take the 5th spot in the rotation. I don't think they'll work Cecil or Romero into the rotation. The only other candidate is Matt Clement, but it all depends on how he performs in spring training.
