Richmond Redemption

By
When the Blue Jays really needed Scott Richmond to step up, he did what any good Canadian would do and he honoured that request. After a bit of a shaky start in the first, Richmond settled down and pitched 6 strong innings to earn his first win since that 3-0 rain delay back on September 23rd of last year. It always helps when you get a nice 4 run cushion to work with, but Richmond never really got into any trouble until Shawn Camp came in relief in the 7th. Even then, Camp and new guy Bill Murphy and Brandon League were spectacular in relief.

To you Scott Richmond, we raise a pint of one of Canada's finest beers - Steamwhistle. Cheers!

  1. What a game! I confess, when they were scoring again in the 9th, I was thinking, "oh, come ON. Let it be over with already..." But at least J-Mac got to join the party, too.

It was nice to see Richmond actually get some run support, and some numbers that reflect his ability.

Steamwhistle is okay, but for some reason, it tastes way better when you're drinking it across the street from the Rogers Centre. :)

  2. LJ, I think Richmond was on the bubble last night. If he didn't have a good outing, people would be calling for his head. Luckily, Scotty delivered and his place in the rotation is safe.

I think J-Mac was getting sick of being a pinch runner for the last few games. With an 8 run lead, Cito figured it was time to throw McDonald in there and work some magic I guess.

Steamwhistle is one of my fave beers, it's surprisingly difficult to find on tap anywhere in SW Ontario. I've taken the brewery tour, and it was pretty sweet. We went after the Jays game, and it helped numb the pain of them losing to the Kansas City Royals.

  3. Ouch.

I took the Steamwhistle tour, too, and as a homebrewer myself, I was impressed that the brewmaster was actually a brewmistress. Pretty cool.

  4. A brewmistress? I think that just perked the interest of any red-blooded Canadian male.

What kind of special Blue Jays brew are you cooking up?
