Victory for Scott Richmond

By
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to start preparing the ticker-tape parade down Yonge Street. Scott Richmond will begin the 2009 season as one of the Toronto Blue Jays starting pitchers.

As you’ve probably noticed over the past few months, Scott Richmond unexpectedly captured my attention as one of the dark horse candidates for the starting rotation positions. To this day, I still can’t figure out exactly what it was that made him so likeable. Maybe it was his quiet demeanor, his dependability, or maybe it could have been that sad, sad face of his from the WBC.

Regardless, let’s just take a moment to honour this amazing accomplishment by our fellow countryman. Congratulations Scott Richmond, this certainly calls for an Al Gore-sized celebration.

  2. Ditto! At least my second favorite Jay will be on the roster opening day.

  3. Thanks Dave! I hope so too - the leash on Richmond will probably be fairly short. I imagine any more than 3-4 bad outings, and he'll get yanked. Also if Janssen gets healthy quickly, he could take Richmond's spot too.

I'm sorry for your loss LJ, I guess we'll have to find some way to transform your Inglett jersey into a Richmond jersey.

  4. Good on Ian, though I'm not so sure a parade down Yonge street would be as poignant as a parade down Richmond Avenue.

  5. Considering I can't even spell YONGE STREET correctly, maybe I shouldn't be the guy to lead this celebration.

In fact, I'll probably get lost trying to find my way back to the hotel on Opening Day.
