About The Blue Jay Hunter

Hi, my name is Ian ... and I'm addicted to baseball.

"The Blue Jay Hunter" is all about Canada's baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays. It is a place where the team itself, and baseball in Canada is constantly under the crosshairs.

I can't exactly pinpoint where the name "The Blue Jay Hunter" stemmed from, but I think I was trying to capitalize on the fame of The Crocodile Hunter back in 2007 and have a similar namesake. Not the most clever name ... but we've come this far, right?

The Blue Jay Hunter has been featured on Sports Illustrated's "Extra Mustard", ESPN.com, Grantland, the Huffington Post and MLB Trade Rumors. And somehow, my Roy Halladay/Carlos Ruiz at promo Photoshop pic made it onto NBC Hardball Talk and SI.com's Hot Clicks.

The earliest memory I have of going to a Blue Jays game was October 3rd, 1992. At the time, I didn't realize the significance of the game, but it was the day that the Toronto Blue Jays clinched the pennant.

To make the game even more memorable, my childhood hero Joe Carter hit his 34th homerun of the season that day and that would prove to be the eventual game-winning run over the Detroit Tigers.

Admittedly, I had a brief hiatus from Blue Jays fandom after the 1994 baseball strike until around 2005. Unfortunately I missed the Carlos Delgado golden years, but luckily rekindled my love for the Blue Jays at the tail end of the Roy Halladay era.

Fast forward to today, and I am older (not necessarily wiser), but I still have that same passion for  the Toronto Blue Jays. When I'm not listening to the game on the radio or watching it on TV, I 'm usually blogging about it or searching for GIFable game highlights.

Like I say ... give me cold beer, a pulled pork sandwich, the Blue Jays game on the big screen and nobody gets hurt.

Favourite Blue Jays (then): Joe Carter, Roberto Alomar, Duane Ward, Pat Hentgen, Roy Halladay

Favourite Blue Jays (now): Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Brett Lawrie

Favourite Blue Jay memories (then): Blue Jays win the pennant (October 3, 1992), and of course Joe Carter's walk-off home run from the 1993 World Series

Favourite Blue Jay memories (now): Aaron Hill steals home (2007), Dustin McGowan's near no-hitter (2007), Roy Halladay vs. A.J. Burnett (2009), Jose Bautista's 2 home run game vs. Yankees (2010)
