How To Deal With An 11 Run Loss: DRINK!

By
People deal with hardships in different ways. For the Blue Jays 11 run loss to the Red Sox, I chose to delve into the alcohol. But then, a funny thing happened ... so did everyone else!

@Spankadia chose to go with something a little stronger, Sambuca.

@TaoofStieb on the other hand resorted to the good old Kronenbough.

@ArchiZuber would've partaken in the festivities, but they're only allowed bottled water in the edit bay. Poor guy.

@mererog turned to Heineken for some comfort after the Jays were behind by 14 runs in just the fourth inning.

@ILBlueJay grabbed for an ice cold Miller Lite, and usually after about 10 or so of them, Cito's decisions start to look pretty good.

@s_findlay choose a bit of a different route going non-alcoholic with a tea, but a great choice nonetheless because nothing like an Earl Grey to calm those nerves after watching Romero implode.

@DrewGROF brought some backup for the Blue Jays in the form of champagne. This one's for my homeys.

@BKBlades ensures me this was just some Dr. Pepper and melted ice, but this snifter look and awfuly lot like Courvoisier specially from the liquor cabinet of Leon Phelps the Ladies Man.

@PowerofGiggle continued the soft drink theme, going with a Coca-Cola Classic to ease the pain.

@_L_Jay_ dipped into the liquor cabinet for some Prince Igor vodka accompanied by the Blue Jays shot glass.

@powder_blue was there to watch the entire game go down from start to finish at the Rogers Centre, and it took a few brews to even make this one bearable.

@MichelleEddie and @SandyMacLeod accompanied tonight's game with a couple of Stella Artois.

@Roll_Fizzlebeef missed out on the action, but here is an artist's rendition of what would've gone down.

@heyscottsmith sipped on some sake to help numb the pain of what was a pretty tough game from the Blue Jays fans perspective.

It just goes to show you that even during blowout losses, there are still some thing to celebrate. Cheers!

  1. The Ladies Man loves you, but not in any type of sexual, or love-type way.

This is why I don't drink Courvoisier anymore.

  2. @powder_blue here...

Just to clarify... while I DID drink my fair share of beer at tonight's game, my picture features empty beer cups that belonged to my neighbour. I'm a lush, but... still. ;)

I love this post, Ian. What a crapfest of a game - a perfect opportunity to drink too much. :)

  3. bkblades, to be honest I've never actually had Courvoisier before, I just wanted to use this as an opportunity to reference one of my favourite guilty pleasure movies.

e, it's an impressive stack of empties nonetheless. I can't believe I'm saying this, but hopefully the Blue Jays get blown out again so we can do this little experiment again!

  4. This is a great post.

The year end kegger is going to be awesome.

We're having a year end kegger, right?

  5. Thanks for helping contribute Archi, it was all you guys! And yes, there's an end of year kegger in the works I believe. Tao is spearheading that one, right?

  6. I don't comment on posts often, since I read them as an RSS feed, but THIS IS THE BEST POST EVER. Thanks for the cheer-up. I wish I hadn't already turned in for the night, or else I would have done a booze-in-front-of-the-TV pic.

  8. Despite that fact that a lot of people left around the 6th inning and there were (as usual) TONS of douchebag Red Sox fans there, it was nice to see that a lot of the lunatic faithful (myself included) stuck it out until the very end and never stopped cheering. Watching a team get its ass kicked so badly kinda only means you have to cheer harder, if only to blot out the pain.

  9. LJ, I don't blame you for giving up on this game. For some reason, I stuck with it but the drink pics made it pretty fun.

Evan, glad you enjoyed it. Fried chicken also would've gone well with any of the above beverages.

sadp, I tip my cap to you for sticking around till the bitter end on that one. Thanks for reppin' us Jays fans proudly against those Massholes.

  10. Great post! But as the resident annoying Red Sox fan, I shall note that I was celebrating, although not with an alcoholic beverage.

The last time I was in Canada, my friends and I wanted a bunch of cheap beer. We ended up buying a pack of Tremblay cans, and because our hotel fridge was too small, we filled the bathtub with ice and kept them all in there.

  11. Steve, I don't blame you for celebrating at all. That game was basically locked up after the 3rd inning anyway. Hence the drinking from the Jays fans.

Interesting choice for beer with Tremblay. There are a bunch of weird cheap brands like that - and I liked your bathtub strategy. Well done, sir!
